Goa's Disappearing Wild Berries

I never knew her age; I assumed she was 100 years old. At her age, this tiny fragile figure did all the work around the village. Which always amazed me during that time and it still does. Rain or summer, from working in the fields, collecting wood, doing all the housework, harvesting shellfish and so much more. She did it all. Lovingly she was called Aaji Mai.

On a hot April afternoon, we would climb the hills with her where she taught us to spot, pick and eat the delicious wild fruits and berries that grew. Hmm... I remember some like jambhala, kantam, chunnam, chirputtam. She made a small leaf cone and gave us all to eat. Those were some adventures.
This memory now lingers only through the berries I buy from the market. Am sure everyone must have had these childhood experiences.
